The morning sickness has arrived (5w6d)

Well, last week I was saying that I was worried that I wasn't sick and now I am! It's no fun but it does help me feel better about the baby growing as it should. I am still not as sick as I was with Jack at this time but each day it has gotten slightly worse.

Time is moving rather quickly this week so hopefully that will be the case next week and we'll get to see our little bean soon! One week from tomorrow, actually. If you happen to be reading this, please pray! I believe in the power of prayer and know it works. Please pray that the baby's heart begins to beat and beats strong and that all of the organs and limbs develop as they should. This is the week that the heart miraculously begins to beat and that is what we are hoping to see on the ultrasound next week.

Not as far along as they thought

My appointment yesterday was not a great as I was hoping. According to the doctor's dating system, I was 6 weeks yesterday. We go in for the ultrasound and all they see is a yolk sac and I was measuring 5 weeks 1 day. You can imagine my disappointment and worry at that point. The ultrasound tech said that my dates could be off and not to worry.

We waited FOREVER to see the doctor and he said that their dating system is based on a 28 day cycle and mine is more like 33 days. He said given that, I am exactly where I should be and everything looks great. That made me feel better but until I see that heart beating, I won't relax. I have to go back in on May 26 to have another ultrasound. I'll be 7 weeks by then.

I am going to try to keep busy so I won't go crazy but that is going to be tough. My due date will be later - around January 11. All I can do is pray. I know this is not in my hands but in God's and I have to trust that he knows what is best and is in control. So for now we wait.

Feeling icky

I tell you what, I am so, so, so, so, so tired. It is so difficult for me to get any work done. I've still not had the morning sickness that I had with Jack...just an overall icky feeling. I really don't know how I am going to get through the day tomorrow until our appointment, which is at 3:00. I am worried, of course and praying that everything is ok. I just want to see that little heart beating away.

Once the results come in, I will post. Praying that it is good news!

Ultrasound has been scheduled!

My hormone levels look great. On April 27th they were 26. On April 29 they were 78 and five days later on May 4, they were 588! They are supposed to double every 48 hours and they are so Dr. Taavon felt like things were going well so he scheduled my first ultrasound for May 13 at 3:30 pm. We should be able to hear the heartbeat at that point. I am a little afraid that it will be too early to hear it. From what I've read, the heart starts beating around 6 weeks. If we are just a day too early, we won't hear it and then I will be so nervous! I'll probably have to wait another week or so and that will be awful.

Ugh, I am such a worry wart. Worrying about something that has never even happened yet. As for symptoms, just super tired and icky feeling. Not as sick as I was but again the sickness is what made me feel like everything was ok. I should be happy that I'm not sick 24/7 but again, I'm worried. I guess that's what being a mom is all about :)

It Looks Like We're Having a Baby!

Wow, what a week it has been. I told Eric the news the afternoon I found out. I planned to have Jack wearing a shirt that said, I’m the Big Brother. There was a little problem with my plan when I found Jack sleeping all the way home that afternoon. I knew he was going to be cranky and clingy when we got to the house.

When we arrived he seemed excited to go see Daddy so I put the shirt on him but as soon as I put him on the floor, he started crying and didn’t want me to put him down. I quickly took off the shirt and put it in my purse to try again later. 20 minutes past and Eric was outside trying to get the grill started. I put the shirt on Jack and we walked out the front door and around the house to meet him in the back. He didn’t notice Jack’s shirt until I said to Jack, “show daddy your new shirt.” Eric looked, stopped what he was doing and looked at me with a look that said, “are you serious?” Then he got this cute grin on his face.

I think we are both still in shock. I never expected it to be this easy this time around. My due date is January 6. I went to the doctor on April 27^th to get everything confirmed and I turned 4 weeks yesterday. Today I went in to have my hormone levels checked to make sure everything is as it should be.

I am getting pretty tired during the day but no morning sickness yet. It didn’t kick in though until 5 weeks with Jack…just the time I am in DC for work. :(

What the Heck is That?!

O-M-G is that a line?!!!! OMG is all I can say right now. That can’t be a line – can it?? It really looks like one and the other two tests I’ve take were stark white! When I first looked at it this am, I thought, dang it! But then as I looked closer, I saw the faintest of lines! Holy moly. We’re PREGNANT!!! OMG. Can you see it?

I should know better

Well, I tested today at 8 dpo and it was negative of course. I read how most women will get a negative result at 8 dpo because it is just too early but you always hear about those exceptions. I guess I was hoping I would be an exception too. And the waiting continues…
